1. Welcome
These terms govern your use of otiya, a live quiz service currently in beta. By using otiya you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Beta service
otiya is in active development. Features may change, and occasional interruptions or bugs may occur. The service is provided "as is" during this period.
3. Plans and school use
otiya offers Free, Starter, Pro, Team and Enterprise plans. Paid self-service plan amounts are not published yet, and payment processing is currently not connected. otiya Kids is free for family use. Use by schools, educators and other education organisations is offered separately as a paid institutional service; the scope and price are agreed with the organisation before any purchase.
4. Who can use otiya
Playing needs no account and is open to any age. Anyone can join a live game from the host's QR code, shared link or game code, and we ask them for nothing but a nickname.
Creating an account requires you to be 18 or over, or older where the law in your country sets a higher age. Accounts are what let you build quizzes, host live games and subscribe to a plan, so they carry responsibilities we can only place on an adult.
If you are under 18 and want to host, ask a parent, teacher or youth leader to create the account and run the game with you. That is how most classrooms and youth groups use otiya.
otiya Kids. otiya Kids is designed for children aged 3 to 12 playing on an adult's device, with that adult present and responsible for the session. Names, avatars, age bands and shared-device Play Profiles are kept on that device only and are never sent to us. No child needs or should have an account. Play Profiles describe preferences such as read aloud, pace, answer choices, sound and motion; they are not diagnoses or assessments. No shared-device Kids game can be joined from another device, because there is nothing to join.
5. Your account
Creating quizzes requires a free account. You are responsible for keeping your login safe and for activity under your account, and for giving accurate details when signing up, including your date of birth. If we learn that an account holder is under 18, we may restrict or close the account.
6. Your content
Quizzes, questions and photos you create remain yours. By creating them here you allow us to store and display them so the service works. You agree not to upload unlawful, hateful or sexually explicit content, anything infringing another person's rights, or other people's personal information without consent.
7. Inclusive and educational support
otiya's inclusive features change presentation, pace and participation. They are not medical, diagnostic, therapeutic or specialist SEND assessments, and they do not replace professional judgement. Adults remain responsible for choosing content and support that is suitable for the children or learners in their care. AI-generated inclusive suggestions are proposals for the creator to review before use.
8. Fair use
Do not misuse otiya, attempt to disrupt it, or use it to harass others. We may remove content or restrict access that breaches these terms.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, otiya and its operators are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of a free beta service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
10. Changes
We may update these terms as otiya grows. The date above always reflects the current version, and continued use after changes means you accept them.
